GPCS Homecoming 2011
GPCS held their 2011 Homecoming, October 1. The day began with the GPCS JV Soccer Team taking on Grace Christian School. The GPCS JV Team won! This was followed by the GPCS Varsity Girls playing Calvary Chapel. This was a close game and GCPS Varsity Girls took a loss. Then the GPCS Varsity Boys played Acadia Christian School. The boys took a big victory. Then it was time for the alumni game. I heard it was fun, muddy, wet, soggy, etc. The day ended with food. Many thanks to all the volunteers. Thank you to all the alumni who came even though the day was rainy and wet!
GPCS Mourns the Loss of a Great Neighbor
Thomas Bakker died in his home October 6, 2011. Many of you know that he and his family lived next door to the school. The Bakker's sent their children to GPCS for a time. When their children were not enrolled, they continued to support the school. Tom at times plowed in the winter, reported lights left on, etc. He was also entrusted with a key so that outside groups renting our building could get in. He was a great neighbor to GPCS and we will greatly miss him.
GPCS Chapel
Many of you remember Chapels at GPCS. This year, GPCS is beginning some new initiatives. GPCS hopes to have a whole school Chapel four times through out the school year. It is an opportunity for seniors to pray with kindergartners, juniors with third grade, etc. The other new idea with secondary Chapel, is each grade will do Chapel. In this first quarter at GPCS, the senior class will be presenting Chapel at the end of October. Pray for these initiatives as we hope to Glorify the Lord and have more students actively involved.
