GPCS Alumni Basketball Event
The 2010 GPCS alumni basketball games were held at GPCS on Thursday December 30, 2010. The girls’ game got underway first. With only two alumni women in attendance (Bethany Green(class of 2009) & Danielle Woodward (former student class of 2010)) ; Girls Varsity Coach and Principal Keith Dawson joined the alumni team. Current GPCS varsity player Ashley Whalen and seventh grader Ashlee Dawson also joined the alumni team. The alumni team jumped out to an early lead before the varsity team got some momentum going and went on to a 43-38 victory.
The alumni men’s team had a much better turnout with nine players spanning the last decade of graduating classes (Chris Spaulding (class of 1989), Joel Bamford (class of 2000), Andrew Foster (former student class of 2000), Mike Jones (former student class of 2006) Dennis Cram (class of 2006), Jared Bamford (class of 2006), Geoff Taylor (class of 2006), Scott Keenan (class of 2003),Andy Marston (class of 2005)and Alex Whalen (class of 2009). The boys varsity team started with five players and no one on the bench until Assistant Coach Paul Harrell took the court to give the boys some rest. The alumni men controlled the game from start to finish, earning a 65-30 victory over a very tired varsity team.

Alumni at GPCS
GPCS is always pleased to have alumni and former students return! We are thankful for Jared Bamford (class of 2006) volunteering as Assistant Coach for Jr High Boys Basketball this year. The Head Coach for Jr High Boys Basketball came to us by an alumnus too. Paul Harrell is the head coach and husband to Jennie Keenan Harrell (class of 2001). This month we have two Chapel speakers with GPCS ties. Mike Jones (former student with the class of 2006) came and shared his work with Jews for Jesus and some of his music too. Then the following week, Emily Johnson (class of 2006) came. She is currently serving as Miss Maine. She did Chapel for both elementary and secondary students. Andy Marston (class of 2005) is helping grade one with their Snuggly bear project.
