March Update 2010

GPCS Open House

Greater Portland Christian School invites you all to our Open House on Saturday, March 27 from 10:00am- Noon. Come and meet our faculty, view our curriculum and tour our facility. We would love to meet you and share with you our joy in being a part of this ministry!

GPCS Varsity Girls Win MPA Sportsmanship Banner

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team made it to Augusta this year! They ended their season ranked 8th and played in the quarterfinals. The team took a loss to the number one ranked team, Richmond. However, the team earned the MPA Sportsmanship Award for Class D West. The team was presented the banner at the Class D Championship Game. These games are televised on PBS. Our girl’s team looked great! Congratulations!

2. GPCS also has a Facebook page. Become a friend to GPCS Lions. The Facebook page is use to let you know of upcoming events at school or for the school.

4. GPCS has a blog on Blogspot. I do a monthly alumni update using this blog and it is also automatically posted on Facebook. The blog name is GPCS Alumni Update.

Ø Jennifer Titus (class of 2007) is engaged to be married. Wedding is November 12.
Ø Zachary Taylor (class of 2005) is engaged to be married to former student Anastasia Street (member of the class of 2009).
Ø Stephen Prescott (class of 2003) is engaged to be married.
Ø John Aiken (class of 2000) and his wife are expecting a girl this summer.
Ø Joel Bamford (class of 2000) and his wife are expecting their 1st child.
Ø Former student, Andrew Foster and his wife are expecting their 2nd child.
Ø Jennie Keenan Harrell (class of 2001) and her husband are expecting their 2nd child.
Ø Nicole Libby Axelsen (class of 2000) is expecting a child.
Ø Stephanie Nevers Allen (class of 2006) had a baby boy. Daniel Michael Allen Jr was born March 1 weighing 9lb.12oz.
Ø Lindsay Carlson (class of 2003) was married in February.
Ø Becky Wiggins (class of 1999) currently in Costa Rica studying at the Instituto de Lengua Espanola. Pray for her as she learns Spanish and for continue growth in funding to serve with Mexican Medical Ministries.
Ø Jim Grumbine (former student) has launched a fashion line, Faith & Fortune. Go to his web site at www.faithfortune.com and check it out! “More than just an apparel line, Faith & Fortune is a brand that requests a lifestyle and measurable action steps of its community members.” Jim is also running in the Boston Marathon on April 19. He is raising money for Cystic Fibrosis.
Ø Stephanie Babirak (class of 2007) is a member of Vigilance Committee band. Their band will be performing in Maine. Mark these dates on your calendar; April 2 at She Doesn’t Like Guthrie’s in Lewiston and April 3 at Geno’s Rock Club in Portland. Both shows are 7:00pm-10:00pm.
Ø Dr. & Mrs. Don & Doreen Theriault (former GPCS parents) are heading to Uganda on a mission trip. Check out his letter with this flyer.

Reunion:
The class of 2000 celebrated their 10th year class reunion on Saturday, March 6 at Tortilla Flats in Portland.

Class of 1985 Reunion!

Invitation to all GPCS students from the Class of 1985 & students from class of 1983-1987. You all are welcome to come, bring food, bring your lake gear to The Pavillion at Sebego Lake, Maine. The Pavillion is located on Songo Beach. It is reserved for Saturday, July 31st. Your whole family is welcome to come to the lake and eat, swim, etc. We can also share good and funny memories of GPCS and get caught up with each other on where we are now. GPCS Reunion: Class of 2000

Ten Year Reunion- Class of 2000

Ten years ago, GPCS graduated 15 students. This class recently celebrated their 10 year reunion. The class met at Tortilla Flats last Saturday, March 6. The classmates that attended were: Joel Bamford, Stephen Congdon, Matthew Foss, Mark Friedlander, Natalie Fry Cleary, Phillip Jones, Nicole Libby Axelsen, Andrea Roberge Ashe, Sara Ryder Labacz, Christie Spring, and Tim York. Only 4 were unable to attend; John Aiken, Kristin Bickford, David DeRienzo & Dan Williams. Former classmate, Andrew Foster also attended. So what is the latest about these 15 students? The following are engaged: Tim York & Kristin Bickford. The classmates that are married are: Natalie Fry Cleary, Andrea Robere Ashe, Nicole Libby Axelsen, Sara Ryder Labacz, David DeRienzo, Joel Bamford, Phil Jones & John Aiken. The following past students are expecting: Joel Bamford & his wife, John Aiken & his wife, Andrew Foster & his wife, and Nicole Libby Axelsen & her husband. There are three alumni with children; Matt Foss, Sara Ryder Labacz, & Phil Jones. Matt Foss will be deployed soon. Your prayers for him would be greatly appreciated. Mark Friedlander is working in theatre and living in New York City. A nice time was had by all and all enjoyed seeing each other again and getting caught up!
