December Update

GPCS Christmas Events:
GPCS is pleased to offer several ways to prepare your heart for Christmas!
1. Ladies Christmas Tea will be on Friday, December 4 at 7:30pm. This year we are hosting this event at Christchurch Evangelical Covenant. Tickets are $5/ person. This is an evening for ladies to enjoy music, drama, fellowship and desserts! Tickets are available at the school office. For more information, call 767-5123.

2. “An Acoustic Evening” is a free concert to benefit GPCS. An offering will be taken for the school. The featured artists are; Steve Espling, Doug Elder (of The Wrecking), Michael Jones, Frank Marston & Scott Logan. The concert begins at 7:00pm and is held at First Evangelical Free Church of Maine on Saturday, December 12. Call 838-3366 for more information.


3. GPCS Christmas Concert featuring all GPCS Choruses will be on Monday, December 21 at 7:00pm. The concert is at First Baptist Church of South Portland. The GPCS High School Chorus, the GPCS Jr High School Chorus and GPCS Children & Friend’s Chorus will all be performing.



GPCS Basketball Season Begins!

GPCS Varsity and Jr High Basketball have begun. The Varsity Boys will compete in the Maine Christian Sports League, the Varsity Girls will compete in the MPA, and the Jr High Teams will compete in the Boys & Girls Club Leagues.

Mr. David Andreasen is coaching the Varsity Boys Team again this year. Mr. Keith Dawson is coaching the Varsity Girls Team. Bethany Green (class of 2009) is assistant coach. Mr. Andy Foss (class of 2005) and Mr. Mike Jones (member of class of 2006) are coaching our Jr High Boys Team. Mr. Keith Dawson is also coaching the Jr High Girls Team!

First varsity home game is Thursday, December 10. The girls will play Sacopee Valley at 5:00pm and the boys will play OVCS at 6:30pm. Come cheer! The complete game schedule is on the web site at www.gpcs.net, click on “Athletics” at the top, and click on “Varsity Game Schedule”.





GPCS Helping Alumni!

Christmas season is a wonderful time to help others! This year, GPCS students are helping two alumni in ministry. May the Lord use these gifts for His glory!

Ø The GPCS Student Council sold nachos for a couple of weeks for Becky Wiggins (class of 1999). She is raising her support to return to Mexico and serve with Medical Missions to Mexico.
Ø Grades 6-8 are gathering school supplies for orphans in India. They are partnering with Jim Spencer (class of 1985) and the Grace Orphan Fellowship Ministry.

2. GPCS also has a Facebook page. Become a friend to GPCS Lions. The Facebook page is use to let you know of upcoming events at school or for the school.
3. GPCS is on Twitter! Tweets are made for upcoming events. Become a follower. Account name is gpcslions.
4. GPCS has a blog on Blogspot. I do a monthly alumni update using this blog and it is also automatically posted on Facebook. The blog name is GPCS Alumni Update.

Ø Russell MacDougall (class of 2008) and Elizabeth Mason (class of 2003) are engaged.
Ø Kelsey Yarborough (class of 2006) is engaged.
Ø Nate Delcamp (homeschool student) is engaged.
Ø Nick Walker (class of 2008) is deployed to Afghanistan December 8.
Ø Jennifer Keenan Harrell (class of 2001) is expecting child #2.
Ø Betsy Bell Edelen (student with class of 2002) had a baby boy on 10/16, David Ray Edelen
Ø Eric Tranter Dunn (class of 2006) is expecting.
Ø Steve Nevers (class of 1984) & Cynthia King Nevers (class of 1984) are expecting another grandchild from Stephanie Nevers Allen (class of 2006).
